The Hashtag Method

The hashtag offers you a great tool for inviting people to sign-up for follow-up courses or live interactive experiences while you are speaking, or after a performance/presentation.

From your Campaigns > Invite Tools you can scroll through to see this method as an option to get people signed up for your course, training program or promo campaign. It also is a great way for you to test your ConveYour course/campaign from the learner's point of view.

Creating a sign up hashtag in ConveYour.Be sure the hashtag word you choose is simple. One word is best. If you must use two words, a hyphen can be used.

Also - make sure you have set up your welcome messages in Campaigns > Registration and Confirmation.

Here's a scenario:

Say you are a speaker/presenter and you want people who have attended your event to stay connected or join a follow-up campaign you have created. And, you supply your ConveYour number, and ask them to send a text to that number using their mobile device, using the hashtag associated with your campaign.

They will immediately receive the welcome message you set in Registration and Confirmation Messages along with the URL that takes them to their campaign portal.

But what if they make a mistake? As long as they had your ConveYour number right, the SMS Catch-All will catch them. They still get added to your contacts, and you are immediately alerted to them reaching out to you. It will also be clear in their message that they have entered something incorrectly. The catch-all program, catches them sends a response for you, and you can go in and associate them with the correct campaign.

How to Set Up “Hashtags” to Join Campaigns in ConveYour

Hashtags in ConveYour are a powerful tool that allows learners to join campaigns simply by texting a designated hashtag. This guide will walk you through the process of setting up hashtags, both with and without the Teams feature enabled.

Setup for Hashtags: Teams Feature Enabled

1. Access Invite Tools

- Start by clicking on “Invite Tools” from your dashboard.

2. Add Your Hashtag

- Under the “Sign Up Hash Tag” section, enter the hashtag you want learners to use to join the campaign.

3. Configure Learner Portal

- Navigate to the “Learner Portal” tab and check “Lock Completion Order”. This ensures you gather the learner’s information before they access any campaign content.

- Within the initial lesson, use the “Update Learner Profile” item to collect basic details such as their first name, email, or phone number. For more information on using this lesson item, learn more here.

4. Create a Tag Group

- Organize learners who text in the hashtag by creating a tag group. [Here is how to create a tag group](https://conveyour.com/help/tag-groups).

5. Automate Learner Profile Updates

- Set up an Update Contact Profile automation to update the learner’s company and push them to a specific team automatically after they text in the hashtag.

Setup for Hashtags: Without Teams Feature Enabled

If your account doesn’t have the Teams feature enabled, the setup process is almost the same:

1. Follow Steps 1–4 Above

- The steps for setting up hashtags and collecting learner info are identical.

2. Skip Step 5

- Since the Teams feature is not enabled, there’s no need to push learners to a specific team. You can still manage learners and tag groups as usual.
