Fill in the Blank Questions

Overview

Fill in the Blank questions are a great way to assess recall and accuracy without providing answer choices. Unlike multiple-choice questions, they require learners to actively recall information, making them useful for:

  • Fact-based challenges

  • Technical term recall

  • Spelling accuracy

Step 1: Write Your Question

  • Navigate to Main Menu > Lessons and select your Lesson, or create a new one.

  • Drag and drop the Fill in the Blank Lesson Item into your Lesson.

  • Structure the question sentence and indicate where the blank should be.

Step 2: Add Acceptable Answers

  • Provide a list of correct answers (not case-sensitive).

  • Include all possible variations that should be accepted.

Step 3: Configure Additional Settings

  • Add optional media (image or audio) for context.

  • Enable scoring (optional) and set the point value.

  • Participants receive points for submitting a correct answer from the accepted list.

  • Best used when a multiple-choice format would make the answer too obvious.
